For those who are unaware, BlackBerry 10 actually links different contacts from multiple sources and merges them into one. This way, users will not have any duplicate entries in their contact list.
For this to be done, BlackBerry 10 consults different source accounts. Information like a user’s name, email address, social networking account, mobile phone number and PIN are taken into account. A user’s mobile phone number, for example, is an important criteria to use because it is unique only to the user. Telephone numbers, however, can be shared by more than one person.
However, if two entries with the same name from one account source will be detected, they will not be automatically linked.
