RIM launches 5 New BlackBerry OS 7 Handsets In The Philippines

RIM, makers of the BlackBerry smartphones, have unveiled 5 new BlackBerry devices on January 10th held in The Establishment, at the Fort. Hosted by Rovilson Fernandez, the handsets presented at the launch run the recently released BB OS 7 software, offer faster processors than their predecessors, and three of which include the Near Field Communication (or NFC) technology.

Here is a quick rundown of the smartphones that have been introduced at the event: (Click on the images to get full view. 1. BlackBerry Curve 9380. This is the first handset in the Curve series that is an All-Touch device and relies solely on a virtual keyboard. It has all the BlackBerry social networking, all-time goodies pre-installed such as Twitter, Facebook, and BBM. It boasts a 3.2″, 360×480 capacitive touchscreen, 5MP camera with LED Flash, and 512MB of RAM on an 806MHz processor. It also has the NFC technology installed.

The handset’s suggested retail price is at 16,990PHP

2. BlackBerry Bold 9790. As all other devices in the Bold series, this handset offers the iconic BlackBerry keyboard, but now with a 2.45″ capacitive touchscreen. This is a more affordable alternative to the famed Bold 9900. It has an 8GB internal memory, which is expandable to 32GB via microSD. It also sports a 5MP camera with LED Flash, 768MB internal memory on a 1GHz processor, and it comes installed with the NFC technology

The suggested retail price for Bold 9790 is announced at 22,890PHP

3. BlackBerry Torch 9810. This new Torch handset, which follows its predecessors with a full 3.2″ 480×640 capacitive touchscreen and a slide up QWERTY keyboard, now offers a fast 1.2 GHz processor with 768MB RAM and a 5MP AutoFocus camera with LED Flash. This handset does come with the OS 7, but does not have NFC technology installed.

The price announced for the Torch 9810 handset is at 28,590PHP

4. BlackBerry Torch 9860. This new smartphone in the series does away completely with the slide-out keyboard and utilizes the bigger 3’7-inch capacitive screen with a full-touch technology. It also runs on a 1.2GHz processor but does not have the NFC technology.

The suggested retail price for this Torch 9860 is at 24,690PHP

5. White BlackBerry Bold 9900. This phone has already been released last year but it now comes in this elegant, all-white body. This is the thinnest, BlackBerry handset to date at 10.5mm and comes with a much larger display and set of keyboards than the previous Bold handsets. The screen also boasts an intuitive, touch display, with Liquid Graphics, which offers crisper and fluid viewing pleasure. This beauty comes with a fast 1.2GHz processor and the NFC technology.

The suggested retail offering for the sophisticated Bold 9900 handset is at 31,690PHP

These handsets will be officially available at authorized dealers on the 13th of January.
