I think they are on par with Globe BBMax (unlimited).

Ill try to find out if Sun offers BB Social and BB Messaging.

If you are using OS 5 you can delete them in "Service Book" (I did it when I buy secondhand BB). In OS 6* or 7, in Messages, Menu then Options>Email Account Management. Hit the cancel button or return button – you can add/edit/delete email accounts.

*I don't know if OS 6 like OS 7 config.

I tried to clarify this at the Sun Cellular business center but I was not able to get a clear answer.

My question is which services are really included in my plan, I am subscribed to Sun Cellular's BB Social Plan.

According to them, it comes with the following if I am using the BlackBerry.net APN:
1. Unlimited BlackBerry Social Service (BBM and RIM made social apps)
2. Unlimited FaceBook
3. Unlimited Twitter
4. Unlimited BBM

So it is clear to me that if I browse using the BB browser, I won't get any extra data charges.
What's not clear to me are the following:
1. Browsing http://www.youtube.com using the BB browser (since according to them, streaming will incur extra data charges)
2. Using the Youtube app
3. Using other connected apps like FourSquare, mySpace, WhatsApp,
4. Using the free @suncellular.ph.blackberry.com email
5. MMS
6. Skype (I suspect this will incur extra data charges)
7. Yahoo messenger, Google Talk, MSN messenger

I hope someone can help me with this. Thanks!

Hi bontistic,

Is your APN is enabled on your BlackBerry?

1. Browsing http://www.youtube.com using the BB browser (since according to them, streaming will incur extra data charges)

Streaming videos on BlackBerry requires APN. You will charge additional when using it.

2. Using the Youtube app

Also this you will charge additional.

3. Using other connected apps like FourSquare, mySpace, WhatsApp

You need sufficient BlackBerry data to use this apps.

4. Using the free @suncellular.ph.blackberry.com email

Use this http://wap.suncellular.com.ph

5. MMS

This is charged to your main account balance.

6. Skype (I suspect this will incur extra data charges)

I think there is no Skype in Sun Cellular.

7. Yahoo messenger, Google Talk, MSN messenger

You can use it. This is RIM-made social apps.

Hope that helps. Good luck!

Hi Ian, thank you very much for your detailed reply.

The APN that I set under TCP IP is blackberry.net. I thought this is the APN to be used if you are using the BB services.
If I am using this BB APN, does it still connect to the normal APN (minternet/fbband) and incur extra data charges if I use non-free apps (I mean the normal APN data service is not blocked)?

1. Browsing http://www.youtube.com using the BB browser (since according to them, streaming will incur extra data charges)
Streaming videos on BlackBerry requires APN. You will charge additional when using it.
2. Using the Youtube app
Also this you will charge additional.

Thank you. What I understand now is accessing youtube.com (www and app) will both cost extra

3. Using other connected apps like FourSquare, mySpace, WhatsApp
You need sufficient BlackBerry data to use this apps.

This part I do not understand. By BlackBerry data, do you mean that this is not included in the unlimited browsing and will incur extra cost?

4. Using the free @suncellular.ph.blackberry.com email
Use this http://wap.suncellular.com.ph

Thanks, I will try that.

5. MMS
This is charged to your main account balance.

Thanks. So each MMS sent will be charged. Got it.

6. Skype (I suspect this will incur extra data charges)
I think there is no Skype in Sun Cellular.

Thanks. Got this.

7. Yahoo messenger, Google Talk, MSN messenger
You can use it. This is RIM-made social apps.

Thank you. This is good news.

Its better to talk to Sun Cellular about extra charging when using streaming videos. By the way may I know your BlackBerry? Because OS 4.0 – 5.0 you can change settings of your Browser while OS 6.0 – 7.0, automatically detect your settings in Browser. I don't know if your Social Plan lets you stream videos. (I'm doubt about my answer in APN,but for sure call Sun). You can try if you stream videos in youtube will charged to your main account. Use minternet as your APN.

Streaming videos, any of them are automatically routed to the carrier's APN (minternet).

So if you are on BB Social and you opened youtube, this is automatically charged as the 10pesos for 30minutes.

Even if you intentionally misconfigure your TCPIP to be blackberry.net instead of the correct minternet, you may sill be charged. Because the "APN" is configured in the browser service book itself. The TCP IP field in the settings is used for tethering may it be WiFi or via USB cable in Desktop Manager.

Sir Ian Santos or anybody pls,
I've got a question, I just got my social plan 600 about 2 weeks ago, and i'm pretty new with it,
so will i be charged extra for the notifications i get from FACEBOOK and TWITTER if I exit from their page? (not sign-out, i think they call it Push technology, receiving notifications in real time.)

Another how will i know which internet source i'm using whether it's wi-fi or the sun network? what i normally is i turn off the mobile network connection just so i can solely use the wi-fi for internet access to avoid the extra charges…

thank you GOD BLESS!

Ok. About your question:

It's automatic settings. Let's say, when using FB app and your Mobile network is ON, you will not charged an extra in your account because you have Social plan. Contact Sun for more info about using BlackBerry Browser.

Thanks.
