Swap, Switch And Win With BlackBerry

It is now easier to join the BlackBerry Barkada as BlackBerry® offers its latest smartphones to Filipinos around the country through the Swap, Switch, and Win campaign.
Until September 1, 2013, proceed to any of the four BlackBerry stores located at the Cyberzone of SM Mega Mall, SM North EDSA, SM Sta. Rosa and SM Pampanga to swap a working or non-working mobile phone, switch to a brand-new BlackBerry smartphone, and take home discount coupons from Zalora and enter a draw for a chance to win the All-New Ford Focus 1.6L PS 4DR Sedan or one of three BlackBerry Z10 smartphones.
BlackBerry will also be bringing the fun to four more malls around the metro with the BlackBerry Mall Caravans from August 2 – 4 at the Alabang Town Center, Activity Center. For those who cannot make it that weekend, be sure to drop by to Swap, Switch, and Win with BlackBerry from August 17 – 18 at Festival Supermall, Level 2 Carousel Court; from August 24 – 25 at Glorietta 1, Ground Floor (near SM Makati); and, from August 30 – September 1 at the Robinsons Place Manila, Center Atrium.

First making its way to the SM Mall of Asia, the BlackBerry Mall Caravan was launched with a ribbon cutting event led by Kristian Salvo, Senior Business Manager for BlackBerry in the Philippines, and Patty Dimaano, Brand Manager for Ford Philippines.

Those interested in being part of the BlackBerry Barkada can simply bring their working or non-working mobile phone to any BlackBerry Mall Caravan or participating store. The mobile phone to be traded in does not need to come with its box or original accessories, nor does it need to be under any warranty. It will be evaluated for its fair market value then this will be deducted from the cost of the BlackBerry smartphone they wish to purchase at the store. Depending on the model they choose, they can also enjoy additional privileges and save even more.

  • Get the BlackBerry Q10 smartphone, the first BlackBerry 10 smartphone to feature a classic BlackBerry QWERTY keyboard, at PHP 31,990 less the trade-in value of the swapped mobile phone.
  • Own the first all-touch smartphone to be powered by BlackBerry 10, the sleek BlackBerry Z10, at PHP 29,990 less PHP 2,000 and the trade-in value of the swapped mobile phone.

BBManila Fools Day

In tradition of April Fools day, my grammatically challenged mind came up with a devious plan to have a little fun with BBManila, and thus the great BBManila switcheroo hatched to execution. What’s better than BlackBerry rival, Apple iPhone to have an appearance on this die hard BlackBerry blog.

What i did was switched the main page to this page and make it a believable iPhone blog as possible. For technical savvy, what i did was create this page, a CSS overlay and an iFrame linked to the mock-up page. Overlayed and iFramed as not to mess with Google bot crawls.

And the fun ends now. Happy Fools day everyone!

BlackBerry Philippines Power Fans Night

I was one of the few lucky BlackBerry fans invited to the sneak peek / launching of the upcoming BlackBerry Z10 yesterday and it was a blast. Held in a private cinema at Greenbelt 3, around 40 or so avid BlackBerry fanboys and gals are greeted with good food, drinks, a movie and a fun demo of the BlackBerry Z10 awesome features. Highlight of the night was the fun and games with a new BlackBerry Z10 as a grand prize – won by one adorable and cute fangirl.

BlackBerry Z10 with its amazing new features like the BlackBerry Hub that acts as a central location for your emails and conversations, the fluid peek gestures, the sleek user interface and BBM video with screen share will be available this coming Tuesday March 21st nationwide. BlackBerry Z10 pre-order is already ongoing at buybb10.com with suggested retail price of Php 29,990.

Big thanks again to the lovely people of BlackBerry Philippines for the invite, you are all awesome. You can find them at facebook.com/BlackBerryPH for BlackBerry news and updates. You can also follow them on Twitter @BlackBerryPH.

Forgot to bring a decent camera, so please excuse my not so awesome photos of the event.

Why Buy A BlackBerry PlayBook Tablet?

This is a series of question presented by a local news correspondent for their printed and online magazine.

1. What are the basic and unique features of a BlackBerry Playbook? i.e. What makes it different from the iPad, Samsung Galaxy Tab, etc.? Aesthetically, what makes the BlackBerry Playbook a good choice for a tablet? How would you describe the operating system (OS) of the BlackBerry Playbook and compare it to the OS of other tablets?

– What makes the PlayBook unique is its swipe centred gestures and interaction instead of ‘poking’ used by the other tablets, making it more seamless and fluid. Coupled with BlackBerry uncompromisable security that BlackBerry is particularly well known. Aesthetically, Blackberry PlayBook black bezel not only serves as a frame but also a tool on the different gestures and swipes that is the main interaction feature for the PlayBook. PlayBook user interface allows seamless multitasking for its applications. All applications remain active and never pause in the background at the same time maintaining it’s fluidity.

2. What are the biggest benefits of owning a BlackBerry Playbook? i.e. What applications and features does the BlackBerry PlayBook have that will allow users to increase productivity and efficiency? How can BlackBerry PlayBook be a useful tool in communication, getting information, getting work done on the go, etc.?

– Being small, lightweight but with packed features are the best benefits of owning a PlayBook. BlackBerry Bridge application alone can make the PlayBook productive and efficient. BlackBerry Bridge allows you to connect over Bluetooth to your BlackBerry smart phone to serve as a remote for presentations, sync and gain access to your email, calendaars, BlackBerry Messenger, unprecedented ability to create, edit, save and present MS Office documents, Adobe Flash, PDF applications etc.

3. What current limitations are there in owning a BlackBerry Playbook?

– There is no current limitation as the BlackBerry PlayBook is constantly innovating its OS and with the upcoming BlackBerry 10 OS – everything just get better. Hardware wise, being top notch even after a year from the initial launch, PlayBook can and still capable of running rigorous and extensive new OS innovations (BlackBerry 10).

4. When was the BlackBerry PlayBook released in the Philippine market? Based on your observations, how has it been received by the market so far? In terms of sales, how does it compare to the iPad, Samsung Galaxy Tablet, etc.?

– The BlackBerry Playbook was officially released on August 06, 2011. It has been well since its pricing is almost 50% less compared to the other tablets on the market. Sales also boosted when BlackBerry Playbook OS 2.1 was released earlier this year because of the ability to now support Android applications.

5. What kind of people should avail of the BlackBerry PlayBook? i.e. Do you think it would be recommendable for those with BlackBerry mobile phones to get a BlackBerry PlayBook? Are there any syncing options for these two devices?

– The BlackBerry Playbook would suit the urban professionals. Being able to handle enterprise and corporate apps with its native security and the consumer apps for the fun side. I would highly recommend BlackBerry smartphone users to get a PlayBook since it naturally complements each other and doubles the productivity. Together with BlackBerry Bridge – everything will be seamless and awesome.

6. What is the price range of a BlackBerry PlayBook?
– PlayBook price range is around $150 to $250 for the 16gb, 32gb, 64gb versions.

Resetting BlackBerry ID Password

It has been a known issue that some of the BlackBerry users will forget (once in a while) their BlackBerry ID passwords.  When the passwords are being reset, confirmation links will be sent for the password resets, however, are being unsuccessful.

If this happens to you, you can try re-registering your BlackBerry ID using a different e-mail address. You can do this by:

1. Go to “Options”.
2. Go to “Third Party Applications”.
3. Select “BlackBerry ID”.
4. Set up your account with a different e-mail address.

I hope that this would really help 🙂 please don’t forget to leave any feedback or comments if this works or not 🙂
