Just in case you’re curious about the BlackBerry Kopi, you might want to check out these newly released photos of the upcoming phone. This time, these photos from Techrum are of the device at different angles. Enjoy.
As of now, nobody knows when this elusive device will be released. Judging from the photos, it does look nice. It seems to be a marriage between the Q5 and Z10. It has a removable battery and it has the usual BlackBerry buttons. Feature-wise, the only thing most sources are sure of is that this phone will be on the low-end side. This is probably because it’ll have a specific market and it needs to be affordable.
What are your first impressions of the BlackBerry Kopi?

How time flies. Just a few years ago, BlackBerry World was known as BlackBerry App World when it first made its appearance on April 1, 2009. To celebrate five years of BlackBerry World, the Canadian smartphone company has opted to release five premium apps for free. Yes, you read that right. Here’s the official statement:
Celebrate with us – it’s like cake, but it lasts longer. 5 FREE birthday downloads just for you! From March 31st to April 4th, BlackBerry 10 and and BlackBerry OS users can visit BlackBerry World and be treated to 5 premium apps and game downloads.
There isn’t an official list yet. Also, there’s a good chance that there’s going to be a different app lineup depending on your location and device. Check out BlackBerry World if you’re excited to get these freebies. Happy 5th Anniversary, BlackBerry World!
That’s it for Typo. It seems that BlackBerry was able to win an injunction over the sales of the Typo keyboard. If you’ve been closely following BlackBerry news, then you’d know that Typo produced a keyboard for iPhone that looks identical to the Canadian smartphone company’s iconic QWERTY keyboard. The said item is now facing a sales ban.
Here’s the official statement from Bloomberg:
U.S. District Judge William Orrick in San Francisco said in a ruling today that BlackBerry is likely to prevail on its infringement claims and that Typo hasn’t made a strong challenge to the validity of the smartphone maker’s patents. Orrick also dismissed Typo’s concern that a temporary sales ban may put the company out of business.
Although the injunction isn’t permanent, the fact that this happened doesn’t look good for Typo.
Who’s side are you on?
In an interview with Reuters, BlackBerry CEO John Chen disclosed that the Canadian smartphone company will be unveiling three high-end devices in the next 18 months. Accordingly, these devices will be created specifically for users who are more comfortable with using a keyboard.
As of the moment, the BlackBerry community is already expecting the BlackBerry Q20 or the BlackBerry Classic, so that makes one. Also, there’s the BlackBerry Z3, a touchscreen device. It’s quite exciting to see what else BlackBerry has under its sleeve.
Recently, the company reported that it was only able to sell about 1.1 million BlackBerry 10 phones in the last quarter. Chen and the BlackBerry team might be cooking something up in order to change the tides. For now, everyone will have to sit tight until more news about the upcoming devices will be released.
If you have a weakness for anything cute, then Bouncy Bear is one game that you’ll need on your BlackBerry. If it’s not really your thing, then maybe your significant other or child would thank you for it. The main objective of the game is to collect candies and cupcakes on each stage. The more goodies you gather, the higher your score. The player will be controlling Bear, the cute main character. The game stays true to its title since the bear will literally be bouncing about in every stage. Cannons can also be used to reach farther areas.
The game is quite simple, but if you think you’ll need some briefing, you won’t need to worry. The game has a quick tutorial at the start.
If you’re interested, Bouncy Bear can be downloaded for $1.99 in BlackBerry World.
Leaks happen all the time and the BlackBerry community is no stranger to them. Fan boys practically feed on them, so they might not go away any time soon. However, it seems that BlackBerry CEO John Chen has some strong opinions regarding leakers. Here’s what he has to say:
“One of the most frustrating things for all of us at BlackBerry is when a critical and confidential project is reported in the media before we are ready to discuss it. Leaks are, at their best, distracting, and at their worst downright misleading to our stakeholders. The business implications of a leak are seldom advantageous.”
It’s unclear what particular leak has caused Mr. Chen to speak up, but he made it pretty clear that he isn’t happy about it. To all the leakers out there, this serves as an early warning.
